The Civil war between the Confederate States of America and the United States was a war that was fought over differences between the two "countries." The confederate states were once part of the United States, but seceded due to compromises and arguments over states rights and slavery. There were many battles in the Civil War all over the eastern seaboard of the United States. Some of the major battles include the Battle of Gettysburg, the Battle of Chickamauga, and Battle of Antietam. The three battles were turning points for the war and combined resulted in over 100 thousand casualties. The Union eventually won the war and changed the way of living in America. Although the Civil war might seem unnecessary, it was actually beneficial for America as it made the United States what it is today.
